Email configuration

Email configuration connects your store to an email service for sending order notifications and other communications to customers.

Email providers

Choose how your store sends emails:

None

No email sending configured. Emails won't be sent to customers.

Standard SMTP

Connect to any SMTP email server. Works with most email providers including Gmail, Outlook, and custom mail servers.

Microsoft Office 365

Connect directly to Microsoft 365 using OAuth authentication. Recommended for businesses using Microsoft 365.

Configuring Standard SMTP

  1. Go to Settings > Email Configuration
  2. Select Standard SMTP as the provider
  3. Enter your SMTP settings:
    • SMTP Host - Your mail server (e.g., smtp.gmail.com)
    • SMTP Port - Usually 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
    • Username - Your email address or SMTP username
    • Password - Your email password or app-specific password
  4. Click Save Configuration

Gmail users

For Gmail, use an App Password instead of your regular password. Enable 2-factor authentication in your Google account, then generate an App Password in your security settings.

Configuring Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft 365 uses OAuth for secure authentication:

  1. Go to Settings > Email Configuration
  2. Select Microsoft Office 365 as the provider
  3. Enter your Azure AD details:
    • Client ID - From your Azure App Registration
    • Entra Tenant ID - Your Azure AD tenant ID
    • Client Secret - Your application client secret
  4. Click Save Configuration
  5. Click Authenticate with Microsoft to complete OAuth setup

Setting up Azure AD

To use Microsoft 365, you need an Azure App Registration:

  1. Go to Azure Portal > Azure Active Directory > App Registrations
  2. Create a new registration
  3. Add the redirect URI shown in the Email Configuration page
  4. Create a client secret
  5. Grant the SMTP.Send permission

Important

Keep your Client Secret secure. It provides access to send emails from your Microsoft 365 account.

Testing your configuration

After configuring your email provider, place a test order to verify emails are being sent correctly.
